RealSAM Pocket is an execution of this breakthrough technology that empowers its users to have rewarding experiences and complete complex tasks by voice. It is changing the lives of people living with vision loss and other disabilities by allowing easy access to information, enabling communication with just “tap and speak” functionality and supporting everyday life with handy digital assistant features.
RealSAM has been trusted by the US and the UK governments to deliver products that enhance the quality of life for people who are blind or have low vision.
RealSAM technology was selected via competitive bid to create prototypes for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) of the Library of Congress.
The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) partnered with RealThing Ai to launch a smartphone powered by the RealSAM Platform allowing access to RNIB library, initially naming it - RNIB In Your Pocket.
Formed in 2008 as a collective of Artificial Intelligence (AI) researchers & developers with 30 years of combined experience in Defense, Aviation and Research – RealThing Ai started to gain traction in 2012 with the development of its first products including Speech to Speech translation and a number of developer tools.
In conversation with their personal friend, Graham Innes, who at the time was the Australia’s Disabilities Commissioner, they learned that one of the challenges Graham faced was reading the daily newspapers. Being blind, he did not have access to them until they were days old. This is how the idea of RealThing Ai was born.
